- Seek to create win/win opportunities that achieve both of your goals

- Realise that a relationship is built over time, people will reveal more of themselves overtime and give more when they know you and like you

I absolutely agree with Vicki; networking is about building relationships (over time) and not making a quick sale that moment. It requires patience and nurturing and gives you the opportunity to demonstrate how you do business, such as providing quick responses or being attentive.
